dietary-01The goal of the Food and Nutrition department at Prairie Sunset Home (PSH) is to create a pleasurable dining experience for all customers by offering delicious meals and excellent service while at the same time meeting the nutritional needs of all residents.

Every effort is made to be attentive to customer requests. Each resident’s likes and dislikes are on record. Normally we offer a restaurant style selective menu with choices related to: entrée; vegetable; starch and desserts. If you prefer something different than what is offered (i.e.-grilled cheese, burger, fries, soup, sandwich, etc) please ask the server. Every effort is made to accommodate special requests. Nutritious snacks are offered and available 24/7.

At PSH, the food and nutrition department consists of a dietary manager, cooks and dietary aides. The Dietary Manager works with the consulting dietitian to provide residents with meals that are healthy and delicious. We also work with each resident`s physician to insure that we offer the most appropriate diet for their needs and at the same time one that the resident will enjoy. In an effort to optimize the therapeutic benefits of our service, residents are encouraged to eat in the dining room unless they are too ill that day to do so.

Therapeutic Diets offered:

  • Regular
  • Liberalize
  • Mechanical Altered (ground, puree)
  • Thickened liquids

Throughout the year, we bring residents, families, friends and staff together for special meals where the menu might consist of potluck or barbecue.
